Gabon in dramatic win over Morocco

Co-hosts Gabon scored a late winner to secure a 3-2 victory over Morocco and ensure passage to the quarter finals of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations . The pulsating match played in Libreville had drama goals and a roller-coaster of emotions but ended with scenes of dubilation for the home side and disappointment for the Atlas Lions of Morocco.
Morocco had taken the lead in the 25th minute through a well worked goal from team captain Houssine Kharjah. He collected a pass from Younes Belhanda inside the box and shot on the turn past the Gabonese goalkeeper, Didier Ovono Ebang to silence the capacity stadium .
Morocco hung on to that lead and with the time ticking found the co-hosts Gabon increasing the pressure and search for an equaliser. In one of the numerous attacks on Moroccan goal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang volley a half cleared ball past everyone in the box including the goalkeeper and Gabon was in full voice. A few minutes later substitute Daniel Cousin turned the game on its head with a second goal for Gabon after like Khajah earlier on he skilfully turned to lose his marker before sending his shot into the bottom corner off the right post. Morocco were shell shocked and could have conceded a third as the Gabonese went on a rampage. The drama was not over and in the 91st minute Morocco broke down the left flank and defender Charly Moussono blocked a shot with his hand to give away a penalty. Up stepped Kharjah who coolly converted to bring his side back in contention. The added time ( 8 minutes) brought further twist to the game when midfielder Bruno Mbanangoye curled a beautiful free-kick give his side victory and send Morocco out of the competition.
Jubilation scenes engulfed the stadium as the referee brought the dramatic match to an end More news click here: http://www.cafonline.com/competition/african-cup-of-nations_2012/news/12851-gabon-in-dramatic-win-over-morocco.htm
